Silverfish

Silverfish

Silverfish are small, wingless insects known for their silvery-gray color and tapered bodies. They are typically found in damp, humid environments such as basements, bathrooms, and kitchens. Silverfish are nocturnal and fast-moving, often darting quickly when disturbed. They feed on carbohydrates and protein-rich materials such as paper, glue, textiles, and starchy foods. Silverfish infestations can damage books, wallpaper, clothing, and other items made of these materials. While silverfish are not known to bite or transmit diseases to humans, their presence can be indicative of underlying moisture issues in a home. Effective control of silverfish involves reducing moisture levels and eliminating food sources to prevent infestations.
